    The Eye Level Math Olympiad, open to elementary and middle school students, consists of questions leveled according to each grade level in terms of assessment scope and difficulty. We take great care to ensure that even students who are participating in the Math Olympiad for the first time do not feel frustrated.

    By comparing the achievement in each area and the level of math proficiency at the global/national level, students can find the areas they need to make improvements and plan their future math studies accordingly.

    Global competition across 15 countries

    Students from Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania participate in the Eye Level Math Olympiad. Students can grow their self-confidence by competing with other students from all over the world, preparing themselves for a global future.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

ELIGIBILITY Open to Eye Level members and non-members in grade 1~8 worldwide.
Requirements - Language: English only. Instructions for questions will not be translated.
- The 2022 Eye Level Math Olympiad is held online for the safety of students.
PC, Laptop, or Tablet is required. Device must have a camera.

HONOR CODE:  Students must enter answers on their own. Entry of answers by or with the support of any other person, or accessing other sites during exams is considered cheating. The Eye Level Math Olympiad uses web-based proctoring.

CONTEST INFORMATION:  The objective of the Eye Level Math Olympiad 2022 (ELMO 2022) is to challenge students' math skills in a variety of areas, and aims to promote the mathematical skills of students of all levels around the world. ELMO 2022 is open to all students aged 7 to 14 years old, regardless if they are studying in an Eye Level Centre or not.

WHAT IS TESTED?

Test takers will solve a variety of questions in multiple areas* such as, but not limited to, arithmetic, patterns, spatial sense, measurement, problem-solving strategies, reasoning, etc. (*Specific areas may vary by grade.)

- Section 1: tests overall basic mathematical knowledge and arithmetic skills
- Section 2: tests competency in formulating word problems
- Section 3: tests problem-solving proficiency in a variety of areas

Students will be given 50 minutes to complete a 50-question test.

Grade 1~2
- Section 1: 30 multiple-choice questions (1.5 points per question, 45%)
- Section 2: 10 short-answer questions (2.0 points per question, 20%)
- Section 3: Mix of multiple-choice & short-answer questions (10 questions, points per question vary by level of difficulty, 35%)
Grade 3~8
- Section 1: 30 short-answer questions (1.5 points per question, 45%)
- Section 2: 10 short-answer questions (2.0 points per question, 20%)
- Section 3: Mix of multiple-choice & short-answer questions (10 questions, points per question vary by level of difficulty, 35%)

The Eye Level Math Olympiad is an annual mathematics contest that began in 2004, with over 48,000 students from 15
countries participating. The Eye Level Math Olympiad is designed to challenge students’ mathematics skills at a global level,
in a variety of areas including arithmetic skills, geometry, measurement, data analysis, reasoning, and problem-solving. The Olympiad is open to all students and aims to promote the mathematical skills of students of all levels around the world.
