Children Learn to Become World Citizens at the 2019 Eye level Model United Nations Camp in South Korea

SEOUL, South Korea, April 16, 2019 -- Registration for this year's Model United Nations (MUN) camp, which will take place from August 6 to August 11 at the Gyeonggi Academy of Foreign Languages in Uiwang-si, is now open to children all over the world. This special event is a partnership between Eye level, a global leader in educational services, the United Nations, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Save the Children.

Students enrolled in the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades of elementary education are welcome to participate in the selection process for MUN 2019. Registration is free, and students will compete for 50 invitations from Eye Level to attend the camp; this invitation will include a free trip to the Republic of Korea, lodging, meals, certificate, commemorative t-shirt, travel bag, and medal, all provided by Eye level. For every student who participates in the selection process, Eye level will donate $1 to Save the Children, a charitable organization that seeks to improve the lives of our youngest populations around the world.

The Eye Level MUN 2019 Camp is an academic simulation for children interested in learning how members of the United Nations work together to solve real-world issues that affect societies and communities at a global level. In essence, students get to  play the role of UN delegates from assigned countries, and they do so by following national perspectives and policies while paying attention to international treaties and agreements. A strong focus of the MUN camp is to sharpen language skills so that students can develop their public speaking capabilities. Since this is a simulation of how the UN works, students will also have an opportunity to develop their leadership skills as well as acquire knowledge about cultural diversity awareness.

Testimonials from students who participated in past MUN camps underscore not only how much they learned but also all the joy and fun they experienced. Those selected get to meet diplomats and UN staff; moreover, they get to understand how global issues such as the situation in the Korean Peninsula have great hopes of being resolved through peaceful diplomacy. The MUN camp is more than just learning about geopolitics and international relations, students also participate in recreational activities involving music, dance, sports, and overall fun. Thanks to the current trend of internet connectivity and social networking, the international friends that children make at MUN camp could last forever.

* Once preliminary winners are determined, they will be invited to participate in a speech contest judged by MUN staff before     they can be selected to travel to South Korea. This step of the process will be announced between June 8 and June 21.

Parents who envision their children one day enrolling in an International Baccalaureate program, attending the University for   Peace in Costa Rica, or choosing diplomacy as a career, are encouraged to visit the Eye Level MUN website to learn more about this program. Ever since Ban Ki-moon served as the 8th Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Republic of Korea has understood the role it can play in terms of advancing global diplomacy, and this is a reason Eye level has been deeply honored to organize these events. The MUN camp participants of today could be the future global leaders of tomorrow.
